Can't Wait to Return

Hermitage Bay in Antigua is simply heaven on earth. This adults only, approximately 30 suite, hotel is isolated on an absolutely beautiful part of Antigua.

With the exception of an afternoon on a private charter, we never left the resort, and why would we? Three meals a day, afternoon snacks and cocktails are all included. The service is friendly, mostly efficient and the food is above average. We did experience a few hiccups with service and quality, but the vast majority was beyond our expectations.

Sporting equipment is available for use, excursions are planned right at the hotel, and the beach is spectacular. We toured the grounds and the organic gardens and participated in a cooking demonstration. There is also a spa and exercise facility on premise!

There are over 120 employees, but some standouts are Abosola (Abby) in the restaurant, Kyle and Jessie on the beach, Simone at the bar and Solange at reception. These people made our stay extra special. Thank you!

Magical place to stay!

If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing location, stay here! It is a small boutique resort with a total of 39 suites so it is not crowded with guests.

The pool suite is the way to go at this resort. You get your own infinity pool and the higher up in the mountain, the more amazing the views are. We stayed in #39 which is the highest suite and although it was a little bit of a walk up to the room (they have golf cart shuttles too), the views and complete privacy were worth it.

Our favorite activity was a sunset cruise with Captain Christian on his 40ft sailboat, Camelot. Christian sailed us around and told us amazing stories and his first mate served us beverages and some snacks. He books up fast so work with the hotel's front desk to get it scheduled before you arrive.

The only compliant was the lack of food accommodations. This resort is all-inclusive which is amazing but unless you have an allergy they weren't able to take things out of dishes if you didn't like them. I tried the first few days but they kept saying everything was already mixed together so I stopped asking after that. The food is delicious but wanted everyone to be aware if you have a picky eater going on the trip.

Very nice but an ocean view is not guaranteed

My wife and I spent a long weekend during early February 2019. It is definitely a couples resort - very romantic. The Hermitage is very nice - location, food, spa, activities. The people are very friendly and the facilities very good. Nice diversity in the food offerings each day. Enjoyed the live entertainment each night. The all inclusive aspect is nice (although the drinks a bit weak). We definitely enjoyed walking up and down the beach and took advantage of the water activities and the spa.

The issue is the view from the room - I think they gave us the worst hillside suite they have (#22). We were barely up the hill and it only had views of tree tops not the ocean (I think it is the only suite this low on the hill). Inspirato did not let us know this was a possibility when we booked HB. If we had known this, we would have most likely picked another hotel (we were looking forward to hearing and SEEING the ocean from our bed, porch, etc.). I would not recommend to other Inspirato people (at this price) without letting them know it's possible they will not have an ocean view. We took a boat ride and saw several other resorts- it looked like every room had an ocean view.

I will attach a picture of the view - it is nice but not ocean.

Hi, Dan. Thanks so much for taking the time to review your trip. I'm sorry your expectations for the room weren't met; I know your Care team has already been in touch, but I just wanted to reiterate that we're noting your preferences for future trips with us.

Great resort

I found Hermitage Bay to be a great all inclusive resort. The staff is second to none. Everyone is extremely friendly and they go out of their way to insure your total happiness. My ONLY complaint is the length of time between courses at dinner. Each course takes between 30-40 minutes. We learned you can’t order an appetizer, the soup, an entree and desert and be out in less than 2 hours. We started ordering multiple entrees to substitute for either the soup or appetizer to save time. We found the food to be delicious. The menu wasn’t huge but it offered great variety. The hillside room with the private plunge pool was fantastic although the oceanfront and ocean view rooms looked very nice as well just without the private pool. Overall, I highly recommend this resort to all members.

Hermitage Bay Nov '17 review

A great experience that we would highly recommend! Just 30+ suites, all with great views, beautiful plunge pools and outdoor showers. All Inclusive food is quite good,,, would give it an 8.5. The staff is over the top outstanding! The best service I've ever had anywhere! We recommend getting a hilltop suite (ours was #36) with the best views and most privacy. We will definitely be back.
