Great views but

Good:

The views from the property are amazing. It is a nice quiet place and the beach club is very nice with friendly helpful staff. Good food, pool and clean beach.

Great:

Breakfast and house keeping team. They are happy friendly people that prepare amazing breakfast- they go extra mile to create great experiences.

Can improve:

Poor quality utensils- all the pots and pans should be replaced, these could not be allowed in any kitchen. Worst kitchen of all the places we have stayed.

Location:

Great if you never want to go outside of the property. Everything is two hours away. No nearby restaurants or places to go.

We will not stay at this place again due to location.

(I advise management to replace kitchen pots and pans before next guest for their healt.)

Exceptional experience!

We loved every minute of this trip, from our Villa (Caracara), to the shuttle driver (Ronaldo), to the masseuse on the beach Alba to our tour guide Javier. ALL were absolutely a pleasure to be around. Costa Ricans love kids, love to help teach us Spanish, and loved to care for us. HIGHLY recommend!

Our favorite by far!

We spent one short week in Costa Elena and every moment of it was perfect. There were four adults and three kids in total and we opted not to rent a car - which was easily doable and definitely preferable for airport transport purposes. We had younger kids with us (5, 7 and 9) and we opted for excursions that didn't involve a long time in the car, which worked out perfectly for us. We had a contact with a local sea turtle conservation NGO (Equipo Tora Carey) and went on a couple excursions with their team - which were amazing. We found, measured and logged sting rays and went on a turtle/snorkeling/whale watching boat trip - which did not disappoint! Even some Dolphins gave us a show! We also enjoyed some ATVs and jet skis off of Jobo Beach. Can't say enough about the Beach club. It truly felt like a sanctuary and our own private club - the live music was beautiful and so was the Super Bowl party! You can probably skip a trip to the Dreams resort unless you'd like to be reminded of why you're at Costa Elena.

The house was beautiful! - A perfect size for our group. The breakfasts were definitely one of our favorites and managed to keep giving all day long. Our concierge Gerardo was such a gift! He took such good care of us and also took time to share his love for the area which was easily contagious. Also, cannot say enough about the shuttle driver Ronald! Always there for us when we needed - even to play soccer with the kids!

From the house, we saw whales breaching and playing in the bay, monkeys swinging and howling in the trees, iguanas, parrots - soo much! This area is truly special, as are the team members that run it.

Great property with amazing views, excellent beach club and top-notch staff. We were a party of 6 (3 couples) and the house plus the bungalow were perfect for our size party. The pictures of the property and views are pretty accurate. The staff were amazing. Gerardo, our on-property concierge, met us on day one and took us to Caracara House, walked us through everything and even saved us a table at the beach club for dinner, as we arrived in the evening. He found us every day to check in. Gerardo made reservations for us at several of the local restaurants, fishing and a private guided hike to a 200ft waterfall/swimming hole. Gerardo exceeded any high expectations we may have had. Karol came in every morning and made us breakfast and tidied up the house and was equally professional. The entire staff at Costa Elena earn the highest ratings. Know that Costa Elena is a good 1 hour 20 minutes from the Liberia airport and is very remote. As noted by others, most excursions are going to be at least an hour away. The exception was our day fishing in which the boat picked us up at our beach. We had chefs cook for us at the house on 2 nights and both Chef Danny and Chef Paolo were excellent. We had a very good meal at La Copelana and, for a more "local" feel restaurant, a very good meal at Tatay. Gerardo will not steer you wrong for any recommendations. if you are looking for remote, but with an excellent Beach Club and vibe. This is the trip to try.

Beautiful and peaceful

We celebrated a family member’s birthday at this gorgeous property. The accommodations were modern and clean. Daily breakfast service was an absolute treat and something we all looked forward to (and discussed all day afterward!)… Our concierge Diego was a tremendous help to us in addition to being funny, warm and friendly. I highly recommend the in house chef dinners, as there are not many dining options nor top of the line groceries from which to choose. The only negatives were the distance to some of the activities we wanted to try and the lack of good wine/food at markets.
