Location

Depending on arrival time and traffic, your accommodations are located approximately 30 minutes from John Wayne Airport (SNA) and 50 minutes from Long Beach Airport (LBG).

Dana Point is a sprawling, coastal area. To that end, we highly recommend a rental car with our partner Avis throughout your stay, for both convenience and cost savings. However, if you prefer private transportation or a taxi, your concierge will be more than happy to arrange that for you.

Good......but could be great

My four-night stay at the Waldorf Astoria was delightful, thanks to its prime location and top-notch amenities. While the experience was nearly perfect, slow breakfast service slightly detracted from an otherwise excellent visit.

Positives

Location: Ideally located with access to scenic walking trails and high-quality restaurants nearby.
Amenities: The gym and spa were impressive, and the private beach was a standout feature, offering a tranquil escape.
Room: Our room featured a stunning ocean view, enhancing the overall experience.

Areas for Improvement

Breakfast Service: Service was notably slow, with waits of at least an hour for food on two of the four mornings.

Overall Impression

The Waldorf Astoria is a fantastic option for those seeking luxury and convenience, with its private beach and proximity to dining and trails. Despite the breakfast service hiccup, I highly recommend this property for a memorable stay.

Nice Place to stay

It was a nice place. Amazing views and if you golf, its perfect

Definitely goto Laguna beach area for great food and shopping

Service

Overall service was less than previous stays. Rented Cabana poolside - had to find server every time to place drink/food orders - horrible service, Ordered bucket of ice another evening at 7 PM, had to call again 8:30..still no ice, finally had to go find on own. Put Do Not Disturb on. At 10:30 PM they showed up at door and woke us up to deliver ice and hospitality fruit bowl.

Great stay!

Monarch Beach is a first class hotel. The room is large and well appointed. The bed is arguably the most comfortable I've ever slept on. The hotel itself is a distance from the beach so don't expect to hear crashing waves or see much ocean from an "ocean view" room. We spent a relaxing day at the beach. There are pool side cabanas available to rent at the "quiet" pool. Most active kids are at the adjacent pool. And there is a kids club. Service is top notch although we didn't receive turn down on Saturday night. Not a big deal but surprising for a resort of this caliber. The bar by the lobby had really nice entertainment nightly too. Overall, a great getaway. I expect we'll be back!
