Location

Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) is located at San José del Cabo, Baja California Sur. The airport serves the Los Cabos area: San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. Most major airlines offer service here, with frequent flights from Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco, Dallas, Houston, San Diego, Denver, Chicago, and Seattle. Without traffic, the Cape Hotel is about a 40-minute drive from the airport.

The concierge desk at the hotel can arrange transportation during your stay upon your request or you can rent a vehicle from Inspirato partner Avis beforehand. We do recommend exploring the nearby towns and all that Los Cabos has to offer.

the views!

We just returned from a stay at this gorgeous penthouse. The views are absolutely spectacular. The villa itself is perfect for a large group. It is very clean and well appointed. The kitchen is lacking in some items but the hotel staff was able to accommodate. It is hard for me not to compare this property to the Montage where we stayed last year. In comparison the Montage customer service was far superior. However the service at this property was good with the exception of a few significant mishaps regarding reservations. Everything worked out in the end! A highlight is the small gym looking out over the ocean. A negative is the location of some sort of sewage treatment a little too close to the backside of this penthouse. Overall we would absolutely return to this beautiful property if just to look out at the view all day!

Not Wow’d at all

Our family of five reserved the Penthouse 650, which had a spacious living area, three bedrooms with en suites, kitchen and a rooftop deck with plunge pool. The private space on the rooftop was the best part of the vacation.

The resort is very small. The views of El Arco and the Sea of Cortez in the distance are breathtaking.

The issues I had with the resort-

We were awakened every single day with maintenance workers chipping at the stucco, painting and moving heavy objects across the floor of the penthouse unit attached to ours and our unit. I complained to staff and Inspirato that the noise would start between 6:30-8 am. Not ideal when on vacation ( we booked this vacation to escape construction currently taking place at our home). The staff responded by saying it was the wind and no construction/maintenance from them was taking place. That was not true. I took pictures of three men working hammering at stucco, painting, and ladders near the roof! The noise issue was NEVER resolved by the hotel or by Inspirato.

Breakfast included at The Ledge - I have never been to a resort/hotel whereby a ‘breakfast’ menu provided has items on it ( with exception of alcohol) that are not included as breakfast items. These items were chai tea, cappuccino, coke a cola ( teenager ) and a smoothie. Really?

Dinner at The Ledge - unbeknownst to us we were charged $21.00 + the 15% and 16% taxes added on to each bill. The food was cold, tasteless and uncooked. My husband ordered the hamburger and fries. It looked great but it was raw despite him ordering it medium well, some of the fries were soggy cold and others were not cooked at all. The service is slow, we asked for bill and brought the raw burger to waiters attention. He didn’t take it off the bill, rather offered to have another prepared. The table was finished $ service was slow, why would sit and wait for another burger. We were done.

Food and drink are very pricey, especially with the combined 31% added to each item.

In Heaven in Cabo

We loved the three bedroom penthouse at The Cape. We have three teenagers and one brought a friend. The penthouse was enormous and that's an understatement. We wished we knew 100 people in Cabo because we would have thrown a party on the private roof deck that has a jacuzzi, fire pit, and outdoor kitchen. It also has the best view in all of Cabo - straight at the iconic rock formations.

We did lots of activities: jet skis, scuba diving, private catamaran snorkel trip, San Jose del Cabo Art Walk, and surf lessons. Every single activity was excellent. The concierge, Rey, helped me book everything including dinner reservations off property but the food at The Cape was excellent so while going off property is fun for a change of scenery, you will not have as good a meal. The Penthouse came with breakfast included and the breakfast buffet at The Ledge restaurant was outstanding, especially on Sunday. It also came with the use of a large cabana by the pool one day ($650 value). Transportation to and from the airport is also included with the Penthouse.

The staff is so friendly and helpful, the margaritas are outstanding, and the property is gorgeous. We will be back!

One tip about getting around: The concierge advised us to use offical taxis (they are big vans that charge $30 each way to go the 10 km to downtown Cabo). Uber isn't legal in Cabo but it does operate - only Uber X, though, so small four-door cars that seat a max of four passengers. The cost to go to/from downtown is $5 in Uber X. We figured this out our third day - the cars were cleaner than the taxis and the drivers were very nice. But, it often took a long time to get the Uber to pick us up at the hotel. So, we often took a taxi into town (taxis are always waiting by the hotel gate) and Ubers home.

Second tip about cash: bring TONS - we went through $1,000 over the week for taxis and tips for our activities' guides and our concierge, Rey. The hotel will always make change for you in US dollars.

Awesome 1st-time stay at The Cape

The Penthouse was spacious, clean, and well appointed. As it's a hotel, it was cleaned daily plus had turn down service with a lite daily snack and bedside cookie. They left bottled water in bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen each day. We used ice from the large ice maker in the kitchen as well as in our drinks on the property with no stomach issues, although they did suggest we use the bottled water for drinking.

We arrived late due to a delayed flight, but they were ready for us when we pulled up, took our luggage and checked us in at the room. They were terrific.

Poolside food and beverage service was awesome; sit in area served by Jose and you will be certain to never have to wait. Not only was service great, but food was very good, too. We rented a cabana for 2 of our days at the pool, and it was worth it to ensure space and shade.

All the meals we had on property were very good, and the lobby bar has full food service, too.

The second floor of the penthouse is huge and has a hot tub. We used it a lot, both day and night. The only caution is that I'd be leery to allow small kids near the hot tub as it has 2 sides that are up against a very low railing on this 6th floor patio.

Finally, Rocio was our concierge and helped us with everything no matter how small (e.g., we had purchased steaks to grill, but no spices; Rocio arranged for a huge selection to be sent up from the restaurant).

We look forward to our next stay at the Cape.

The Cape-Cabo

This was one our best getaways. The hotel is fantastic. Our destination concierge, Elena, was the best. She was on top of everything from before the trip, during the entire stay as well. Our personal hotel concierge, Diego, took care of all our needs while on property, always checking in with us. Team Los Angeles did a fabulous job putting the trip together.
