Location

If you fly directly to the island, you’ll land at Nantucket Memorial Airport (ACK). From June through September, JetBlue, United, Delta, and American Airlines all offer service here. Year round, Cape Air, Island Airlines, and Nantucket Airlines offer flights. You can also take the Hy-Line passenger ferry, which departs from the town of Hyannis on Cape Cod.

Since Nantucket is just 47 square miles, you won't have a long drive or ride to any Inspirato home. You'll likely want to rent a car to make getting around easy. Inspirato members receive exclusive benefits through the invitation-only Avis President’s Club.

Lovely property and great service1

We traveled to Nantucket with a group of 9 - 3 generations aged 12 to 70. Portside was perfect for our family with 4 bedrooms with en suite bathrooms in the main house and another bedroom and bathroom with a small kitchenette above the garage. The main house has lots of seating areas and an open concept living room, dining room, and kitchen with the large island that worked for casual meals as well as setting up buffets for the group.

Karilyn Gilliam, our destination planner, was fabulous and helped us with dinner reservations as well as putting us in touch with Chef Chris Morris for two catered meals for our group (more on that later). Ann Lockley, our destination concierge, was equally wonderful to work with and available to answer any questions and make last minute reservations, as needed.

I would highly recommend Chef Chris. He was great to work with and his food was wonderful. He was also flexible when last minute details changed.

You definitely need a car(s) on the island and parking can be challenging. Also be prepared for higher prices on just about everything. That being said, I would still recommend this property as a destination, especially for a family1

Well Located, Comfortable Home for Families

The house's location is a plus if you want to explore all around the island. It's less than a 20-minute bike ride to most sites (downtown, Cisco Brewery, Bartlet's Farm, many beaches), and there are cafe's, restaurants, and shops that are easily walk-able. The location and the pool are the top benefits of this home.

The bedrooms in the house were nice, with modest-sized kitchen and common area. It would be very crowded to squeeze 12 people around the dining table, but nearby seating at the counter sufficed for those who didn't fit.

The house was a little dinged up when we arrived. The handle to the freezer fell off, the towel rack in the master was on the floor when we got there, and the hot tub jets were pretty aggressive.

For things to do:

1. Rent jeeps and drive up the beach at Wauwinet

2. Cisco Brewery

3. I'd avoid Surfside beach (too crowded), but Ladies Beach and Nobadeer were awesome.

4. If you like beachside parties, go to the Sandbar on Jettie's beach.

5. Big fan of the Whaling Museum.

6. Sconset walk is very fun with great views of the ocean and the houses that line the bluff.

7. Consider the Frisbee Golf course.

8. Our family of 12 chartered the Sailboat Endeavor for a 90 minute sunset cruise, and had a great time with Captain Jim.

wonderful home

We really enjoyed our stay at Portside! The pool and hot tub were a hit for everyone - we were 5 older boys, a college student, 2 12 year olds, and 2 parents. Lots of space for each set to relax. 10 minute bike ride to Surfside Beach and less than 5 min bike ride to coffee and smoothies. While you could bike to town, we took cars. On that note, we had a car service recommended to our group for 4 airport transfers (12 mins away) and one trip to town and back per day (6 trips, 15 mins to town). The total bill was $3k! We’ve traveled to expensive spots before and Nantucket is no different, but that was stunning. Highly recommend calling Uber or grabbing a taxi at the main intersection of town and at the airport. For fun and different things to do, try cutting flowers at Bartlett’s Farm and buying some of their baked goods at the market. Cisco brewery has great food stalls, and a boat trip with Just Do It Too was worth it. Kristin was very attentive and responsive as was housekeeping. All around great trip, other than the last bill from Island Experiences (car service).

Mid-island house w/ nice pool is great for groups

Understanding that you're a 40 minute walk / 15 minute bike ride / $20 Uber from town, this mid-island location is best for those who want to do some of everything (dining and shopping in town one day, sunning on Surfside beach another, hanging out at Cisco Brewery the next day, riding bikes out to 'Sconset, etc.)... and/or hang out by the pool in a very comfortable home.

S Shore Rd is not exactly charming, but the home is nicely set back and landscaped, with a great pool and hot tub in the back yard (with a fair amount of grass to play around on). The 6th bedroom is like a small hotel kitchenette suite above the (unusable - due to storage) garage on the far side of the pool, but we liked all of the other rooms... one of which is downstairs, but is really like it's own apartment, with a TV room, office, kitchenette and guest bathroom.

Main TV is in a small library-like room, and probably should have been put over the gas fireplace in the main living area, but it's nice to have a big gathering area without a screen too. Open kitchen and dining room areas are great.

Well be back!

A 5 star Property

This home has all the elements necessary for a wonderful vacation experience. Fantastic location. Nice sized bedrooms with baths. Top of the line appliances. Great planning from Sarah and local execution from Reese. Make sure you book transport from Vincent for those nights out. And our mini Cooper was great for daily runs to the beach and grocery stores
