Location

Riviera Maya is located on Mexico's Yucatan peninsula between Playa del Carmen and Cancún. By car, this residence is about one hour from Cancún International Airport (CUN) or about one hour and 15 minutes from Tulum International Airport (TQO).

Amazing Property With Plenty of Caveats

Casa Samba is located inside a private community called Puerto Aventuras. Unlike virtually any other private community that I have been inside of, this is actually a community that has homes, condos, a school, more than 30 restaurants and bar, a marina, beach club, hotels and mediocre beach. Best part: Everything is no more than a ten minute walk from the home including coffee bars, restaurants and the marina. No golf carts or taxis needed.

To be sure, Casa Samba is not a home, it is part of a condo that comprises the top two floors. The building has four floors with a private elevator. Inside the condo, there is another elevator to access the two floors.

The condo has spectacular water view along with two spacious suites, five king rooms and one kiddo room with bunk beds. The main floor features an oversized kitchen, dining table for 16, living area, bedrooms and huge patio.

The second floor is the recreation level with lounge area, kids playroom, small gym with free weights, pickle ball court and outdoor pool. To be told, the pool is just OK and hard to navigate. When you splash in the pool, the water flows to the main level of the condo, not good. There are no lounge chairs on either level to relax. The good news is that the condo has its own pool big enough to do laps and has lounge chairs.

The downside of Casa Samba is the beach. The sargassum was terrible as was the stench. Even though they have a couple guys each day trying to move it off the beach, they only get rid of a small percentage of it and don't even move it off property. The beach sand is course and swimming outside the condo is not safe, you have to walk down to the beach club area.

On the plus side, convenience to the marina village is huge and the restaurant selection amazing; there is no need to leave the community for any meal.

Service inside the Casa Samba is excellent, our housekeeper prepared amazing breakfasts each day and spent hours cleaning. Our concierge, Jade, was one of the best, and arranged all our activities and did the grocery shopping.

Overall, we have stayed at many Inspirato Mexican properties and this one has the best view, best proximity to restaurants and marina. However, it has the worst beach and the sargassum is a real downer. Based on all this, we will come back has the pro's outweigh the cons. The kiddos love the pool and walking to get ice creams and treats.

Amazing for groups or big families

Everything about this house couldn’t have been more perfect. From the Pickleball courts to the private pool on the roof to the open areas for people to gather it was simply amazing. We were greeted by Jade, who really earned her angels wings with this group, and Amelia who had made us some delicious guacamole and tequila shots. Everything about the house in the gated private resort village made our trip fantastic. Amelia was so amazing accommodating special requests for breakfast and always making things feel special for all of our guests. The beaches were definitely the best we’ve ever experienced in Riviera Maya. I would definitely recommend getting the private yacht to take everyone snorkeling. It was fantastic. There were seven couples on this trip who have been ruined for future travel based on the level of luxury and service, and all of them have asked us to do it again. We were there to celebrate some work success and we definitely celebrated. Can’t wait to come back and enjoy the house again.
