Location

The San Antonio International Airport (SAT) is just 7 miles away from the hotel. Though Hotel Emma does not provide airport transportation, it’s easy to get around on foot or through a ride-share service once you’ve checked in. For this reason, we do not recommend renting a car.

Might be my favorite all-time weekend away!

This hotel used to be an old brewery and was completely redesigned to be one of the most stunning hotels I have ever stayed in! There is so much to love inside and the neighborhood and surrounding area was equally amazing.

Our room had a terrace with a fireplace- something I have never experienced in a hotel room. Coffee was delivered to our room every morning and we sat outside by the fire and listened to the birds while the sun rose. One morning, we opted not to do this, but instead, we went down to the gorgeous library, where a friendly staff member serves guests coffee and pastries, while we browsed through the books. The library was also fun to visit early afternoons- where the coffee bar inside the library is transformed into a mixed drink bar. A quiet alternative for guests only- vastly different from the hotel's Sternewirth, which is nothing short of breathtaking. Inside this bar and small bite eatery is a large room decorated with leather chairs, couches and a huge fireplace in the middle. They even have a small second story loft for guests only to enjoy drinks and overlook the fun downstairs.

The hotel had bicycles for guests to use and I highly recommend taking them along the river walk going north...you'll find Brackenridge Park, which has beautiful walking trails and is also home to the San Antonio Zoo. Please, please don't miss riding your bike (or driving) to the Botanical Gardens and the Japanese Tea Garden. They both were the most pleasant surprise outings of our entire weekend!

Lest I forget the entire reason we booked this trip: the San Antonio Riverwalk! Wonderful! Beautiful! Start walking south right outside the hotel doors and you will see so much. We ate alongside the riverfront at Supper (in the hotel and our favorite meal of the trip). We also ate a few times downtown, but I would suggest it's more fun for lunch- stick to the wonderful restaurants with 1/2 mile from Hotel Emma for dinner- they're quieter, classier and have better food.

We arrived on a Friday and left on a Tuesday and it was the perfect long weekend and getaway from the cold and rainy east coast!

Hotel Emma is top notch

We spent 2 nights at Hotel Emma in the Pearl District. I recommend the room with an outdoor terrace and fireplace. We spent relaxing time on the terrace with great views of the river below. The walking path along the river was very enjoyable.

Dining at the "Supper" restaurant was excellent. My wife has some dietary restrictions and all the wait staff knew about this each time we arrived for a meal. Hotel Emma pays attention to the small details and does everything possible to make your stay delightful. Highly recommend!
