Location

L’Auberge de Sedona is about 120 miles from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX). You can also fly into Flagstaff Pulliam Airport (FLG), which is about 26 miles away. You may want to rent a car for travel to and from the airport as well as for any day trips and excursions. Once at the resort, the concierge can help arrange rides into town.

L’Auberge Sedona - avoid at all costs

My recent stay at this hotel was absolutely terrible, and I would not recommend it to anyone. From the moment we checked in, it was clear that the standards of this hotel were far below acceptable. First, the air conditioning in our room was completely non-functional, making it impossible to stay there comfortably. When we brought this issue to the attention of the staff, they were incredibly rude and unhelpful. Instead of offering a reasonable solution, the only option they gave us was to downgrade to a lesser room without any possibility of receiving a refund, since the rate had already been paid through Inspirato.

The lack of customer service was shocking. Rather than trying to resolve the situation with some level of empathy or professionalism, the staff essentially left us with no choice but to either accept the downgrade or leave without any compensation. We were left feeling frustrated and upset, so we decided to leave and not stay at the hotel at all.

To make matters worse, Inspirato, completely abandoned us that night. They offered no support or alternative options, leaving us stranded with no hotel accommodations. We had to scramble to make our own last-minute reservations elsewhere, adding unnecessary stress to our trip.

Overall, this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a hotel. The lack of working amenities, rude and dismissive staff, and the complete failure of both the hotel and Inspirato to take care of their guests is inexcusable. Avoid this hotel and think twice before booking hotels through Inspirato.

Fell short of expectations

The cottages are not exactly Creekside. They have a view of the creek, but there actually are common areas between the cottages and the creek that are accessible by anyone. I walked out onto the porch one morning and was surprised by a woman walking her dog in the lawn directly adjoining our cottage. Also, there is not a lot of privacy because the cottages are situated so that you can see every porch of every other cottage. The bathroom was tiny and the toilet was low. And, to access the cottages, you have to walk through the dining room, which we found quite awkward. We had spa treatments and found the facilities to be a bit lackluster. They had scheduled two treatments that were not what we had reserved and one of us had to walk across the property, including up the entrance driveway, in a robe!! Most of the property was on a downhill angle so there were a lot of steps and uneven ground. Not what we expected at all.

A must return!

Sedona is absolutely beautiful and I can’t wait until we can go back. The cabin was amazing in that we were the last one so privacy was good. We slept with the patio glass door open so we could hear the creek…incredible. I highly recommend the Pink Jeep tour as well. They are the only tour company allowed to drive on the Sedona rocks. The photo ops are top notch. The hiking trails are just as beautiful. Traffic is a little crazy and we missed the entrance into the lodge, but we were within walking distance of town once we parked at the hotel.

Beautiful Sedona

We had a two-day vacation in Sedona, traveling from Southern California. After a 6.5 hour drive, you want to feel like your at home when you get to your destination.

The staff at L'Auberge were incredible. We arrived later in the evening and were immediately upgraded in accommodations and personally escorted to our cottage. Because it was dark, I could barely see a beautiful creek approx. 50' from view. After being shown the features of the room, we settled into a great evening with a wonderful, real-wood fireplace. I look for all the little details, and for me, the wood was perfect and plentiful to make a great fire. The bed was very comfortable and we had a great night's sleep!

Waking up the next morning, we took advantage of some of the things Sedona had to offer. Although there was a major storm coming in, we had a great time in town and this is a place we would like to come back to and enjoy more. We had to cut our stay to just the one night in fear we may be snowed in.

If I were on the management team of L'Auberge, I wouldn't change a thing about their management style. What I would change, however, is a few of the baseboards and the toilet in the bathroom. The baseboards were deteriorating, and the toilet had some deep permanent stains. You just don't expect to come to a hotel of this level and experience that. In my opinion, everything has to be perfect. This only complaint knocked off a bit on the review.
