Location

Fly into Friedman Memorial Airport (SUN) in Hailey, ID located about 12 miles from your residence. Several major airlines service this airport via air hubs including Denver, Chicago, Salt Lake City, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.

We recommend a rental car for the beautiful drive from the airport - which should take about 20 minutes - as well as for exploring the Sun Valley area. Club partner Avis is always a good option. If you prefer a shuttle or private transportation, your Member Services team and Destination Concierge will be happy to make arrangements.

A Real Gem

The Limelight in Sun Valley did not look like anything special from the pics, but I was completely wrong. It is a very nice hotel located only about 3-5 minutes from the slopes. It is a cool hotel with a lot of amenities: The room was large and had storage for our ski stuff, they have ski lockers off the lobby where you can store your skis and all equipment in lockers that are heated and secure. The small van can pick you up right outside and shuttle you over the the ski runs that runs every 15 minutes, heated underground parking for your car, and they serve a very good buffet breakfast with lots of options that is included in the stay. Staff is very friendly also.

Best Hotel in Sun Valley

The Limelight in Sun Valley is by far the best hotel in the small ski town. It is certainly the newest. The accommodations were very nice, they offer a great breakfast included in your stay, and they had live music in the evenings, which was very pleasant. The only reason to not rate it 5 stars is that they do charge for parking (which seemed odd, given you self-park in the garage under the building) and during ski season, you have to take a shuttle to ski as it's about 5-10 minutes from the base of the ski area.

Don't miss riding up the gondola from River Run base and taking in the view of the Sawtooth mountain range from the Roundhouse mid-mountain restaurant.

Awesome Property

We've been going to Sun Valley off and on for 30 years and usually stay in the Sun Valley Village. This was the first time we've stayed at a property in town, but it won't be the last. The property itself is modern, well-kept and conveniently located near local restaurants and attractions. The free shuttle service to River Run leaves on a frequent schedule and return trips are easily arranged by calling the front desk. We've used the Sun Valley bus system in the past, but this was far superior and offered more options. They also offer free shuttle service to the Village and other locations which we didn't use because we had our own car, but that is a great option for those who fly into Hailey. The breakfast is incredible and offers a wide variety of food to fuel you for a day of skiing. We never ate dinner there, but the pizza is well-known throughout the valley and many residents come there for dinner. Definitely worth staying here on any trip to Sun Valley.

Exceptional customer service

We had never been to Sun Valley and were truly blown away by this trip. The hotel is wonderful- right in town, close to everything, but yet only minutes from the big mountain. They provide transportation to the mountain and really anywhere else you might need, so we did not need a car. The ski rental is in the hotel so it was very easy to rent and also lock up the gear right on premises. The food was great, live music every night in the lobby, truly wonderful people work at this hotel. Probably the only limitation is that the skiing is rather difficult, the green hills are more like blues, so if you have small children you would be limited to Dollar Mountain, and even some of those are steep. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we would highly recommend it- especially for experienced skiers!
