Location

Wymara Turks & Caicos is less than a 15-minute drive from Providenciales International Airport (PLS). Many airlines offer service here, including Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta, JetBlue, United/Continental, and US Airways. There are daily direct flights from Miami, Atlanta, New York (JFK), Boston, Philadelphia, and Charlotte. If you plan on spending your days at the resort, you won’t need a rental car. However, if you plan on exploring other beaches, snorkeling sites, and restaurants we do recommend a rental car through club partner Avis.

Wyamara does not belong on the Ispirato Inventory

50% of the time the staff looks annoyed that you exist. Food was a 5 out of 10. Service wavered from 9/10 to 6/10.

That said, it seems that food and service on the entire island is crap. I would never go back to Turks and Caicos.

I describe Inspirato to others as something like, "Imagine you could go to a destination only once. Inspirato guarantees that you won't leave saying 'Next time I would...' because you're guaranteed a great stay, food, and service."

This is the first time that I left thinking, "I kind of regret going there."

No one is perfect. I still love Insiprato. This trip was a bust, however.

Fine...not great

The good: The water is that perfect turquoise that you can only imagine. The resort has trellises of flowers and greenery all around the grounds. Service at the resort was good. I mentioned that I didn't drink alcohol and they had a bottle of sparkling cider waiting for us in our room. It was a nice touch and I was grateful. The breakfast buffet was very good, and had several hot and cold options each day. The sand never got hot on our feet and was soft, not gritty. We really enjoyed the SNUBA diving with Jodi (she was great and got me to relax. The coral and fish we saw were amazing). My husband also did a SCUBA dive with Caicos Adventures and had a really good experience. The gentleman who checked us in recommended a local restaurant, Mr. Grouper's, for dinner one night and it was casual but very good.

The not so good: the pre-planning wasn't great. My husband and I found ourselves doing most of the legwork (researching excursions, companies, restaurants, booking activities, reserving beach/pool beds, etc.), which is what we pay Inspirato to do, so it was frustrating (something we voiced to Inspirato). The resort could have done better, but Inspirato could have worked with the resort better, too. It was explained to us that because it wasn't an Inspirato property, the resort is in charge of the pre-planning, as opposed to an Inspirato concierge. To us, we pay Inspirato the same amount whether we are staying at a resort booked on their website or a home so the pre-planning should look the same to the member.

The room was definitely not the same as the room pictured on the website. I know that the website states pictures and views and representative of the actual rooms, but the website photos show what is clearly a corner room, which we felt represented the rate of the room. When we arrived, our room was an interior room, had one window/sliding door, no dining table, and a large, completely bare wall where the 2nd window would have been. With regards to the rest of the room, the square footage was probably the same as the room shown on the website, but our room was not a corner, and therefore not worth what we paid, in our opinion. We also voiced this with Inspirato and the issue was resolved.

The resort is relatively small but there were a lot of people (we did travel during a busy time). I didn't find it to be as serene and tranquil as I thought it would be. They had music pumping through speakers by the pool (not necessarily bothersome, but always noticeable) and almost all the chairs were taken every day. The beach didn't have music during the day and was large enough to feel spaced out from your neighbors.

Things I wish I'd known: If you want to reserve a beach bed or pool bed, do it far in advance. We didn't know this and they were all booked by the time we asked (a few days before our trip). It gets really windy at night! The winds make is surprisingly chilly at night, despite the temperature. I wore my jacket at almost every dinner. I suggest bringing a wrap, sweater or jacket. The food is very expensive. A caesar salad for lunch was $27! Lunches were almost $100 each day and I wasn't drinking any alcohol. the food was fine but nothing that I thought was remarkable. There were a lot of options on the menus. We had dinner one night at Grace Bay Resort and that was probably the best food we had during our trip. The Miso Cod was good but the other items we ordered were just fine.

Overall, we just don't feel like we got what we paid for. We have done several trips with Inspirato and have truly felt that "wow" factor that Inspirato aims to give its members. This missed the mark for us. If it weren't for the beautiful turquoise water, we could have been at any nice-ish resort in Cancun for a lot less money.

Loved it...with caveats

Wyamar is a sleek, modern elegantly designed resort with a chill Zen Bhudda Bar feel. There were a few kids but the vibe was predominantly young and hip. The recently re-invented restaurant Indigo was excellent for dinner and great for breakfast. Zest is their small beachside restaurant for lunch and is just as good as Indigo with daily specials and super fresh fish. The beach on Grace Bay is beautiful with always available chairs and umbrellas. Spa is great!!

Now the caveats- This is NOT a two bedroom suite if that is what you are looking for but rather two rooms next to each other with a shared entry vestibule. They share the same key but are not connected and do not share a common area. One of the two rooms is a little larger with a larger kitchen/living area. Not what we were looking for. If you go reserve a corner room ahead of time-larger and has a table that will seat four plus a better view of sunrise or sunset. Best room in hotel is 1501. If you are new to T and C Wyamar is a cab drive to downtown and most restaurants. There is a charge for any shared transport from the hotel and cabs can be pricey.

Yes I would absolutely go back to Wyamar- but not for a two bedroom suite.

Perfect getaway

We have been to Wymara many times and we always love it. Cannot recommend it more! The food and service are wonderful and nothing beats the perfection of that beach and the crystal clear waters. The concierge is super helpful but some of our favorite restaurants are Coco Bistro and Parallel 23. The beach dinners on Wed and Sat at Wymara are great too. Walk 10 min down the beach and eat lunch at Somewhere Cafe overlooking the water.

The One Bedroom Suite was spacious and clean and had everything you need for a comfortable stay, with a king bed and king pull out couch.

If you have kids I recommend booking "Jungle Float TCI". Its a floating playground with places to jump, rope and trampoline into the beautiful water. Super fun!
