The Best Use of 36 Hours in Paris

Cultural mecca, fashion capital, culinary dream – Paris is nothing short of extraordinary. The City of Lights lures millions of visitors every year to its naturally romantic streets, where artists, writers, musicians, and more have sought inspiration for centuries. While there’s never enough time to fully experience Paris, our Inspirato European travel experts put together a quick-hit itinerary for the perfect romantic weekend in the city.

Day 1

4 p.m. – Check in to your chic Parisian accommodations. Inspirato offers two apartments at the acclaimed La Reserve, located across the River Seine from the Eiffel Tower and surrounded by amazing restaurants and shops. Each apartment is adorned in typically fashionable French décor featuring clean lines and original accents. Members can also stay at Hotel Regina, where some suites and rooms overlook the Eiffel Tower.

La Reserve is a great property in a great location. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Easy walking distance to the majority of Paris’ sights and neighborhoods. Even for a family of five, there was plenty of room.

6 p.m. – Have dinner at one of the city’s world-renowned restaurants; many are located within the blocks surrounding your accommodations. Paris is home to more than 75 Michelin-starred eateries, all offering some of the finest dining on the planet prepared by master chefs. Enjoy an unforgettable meal and set the tone for the weekend to come.

Day 2

9 a.m. – After having breakfast in your suite or apartment, head out for a day of sightseeing. Paris is very easy to explore by foot, and the extensive Metro system can take travelers just about anywhere in town. We suggest picking one neighborhood and diving deep into its iconic landmarks. The legendary Montmarte area is a great place to start your walking tour. Set on a hill overlooking the rest of the city, it’s teeming with culture, art, history, and sights such as the Moulin Rouge.

1 p.m. – Rest your feet at one of the city’s seemingly endless number of sidewalk cafés. Over an espresso and macaron, recharge before heading out to the Louvre. Arguably the world’s most famous museum, the Louvre is absolute must for any visit to Paris, whether it’s your first or hundredth. For a less crowded alternative, try one of Paris’s dozens of smaller art museums and galleries.

7 p.m. – See why they call it the City of Lights. Paris glows at night, when the Eiffel Tower sparkles every hour and streetlamps illuminate the city streets. Take a romantic stroll, soak up the ambiance, and enjoy the best people-watching you’re likely to find anywhere. For dinner, dine like the locals do: grab a bottle of wine, a baguette, and some cheese and perch on a bench along Canal Saint-Martin. The neighborhood surrounding the canal offers a glimpse into authentic Parisian life with gorgeous street art and quirky shops.

Day 3

9 a.m. – Have one last croissant and café au lait before heading out of town. From Paris, it’s easy to extend your French expedition. Stay with Inspirato in sunny Saint-Tropez, experience the idyllic country life in Provence, or ski the fabled slopes of Chamonix.

Or, venture off to somewhere else in Europe. Inspirato’s accommodations include everything from centuries-old Tuscan villas to striking contemporary homes on Croatia’s coast.
