Exploring New Zealand Golf Courses with Inspirato

Scotland may be the birthplace of golf, but New Zealand is considered one of the world’s premier golf destinations and offers some of the best golf vacations for couples. Earlier this year, a group of golf-loving Inspirato members flew halfway around the world to play the island’s world-renowned New Zealand golf courses, lauded for their natural beauty and challenging layouts. Along the way, they enjoyed signature Inspirato Only luxury experiences programming you simply can’t find anywhere else.

Farm-to-Table Dinner Kickoff

A group of Inspirato members enjoy luxury experiences in New Zealand

The trip started at the Farm at Cape Kidnappers with an Inspirato Only dinner featuring a true farm-to-table fare with vegetables, fruits, and herbs that were harvested from the on-site garden. On the course, the Cape Kidnappers’ back nine stretches across fingers of land separated by deep gullies (certainly home to many a lost ball) and offered guests widespread views of the Pacific Ocean. Looking down the coastline, one direction had views of the wine country (where the group would visit in upcoming days) on one side and the town of Napier on the other side.

In between rounds, guests experienced wine tasting at the prestigious Craggy Range winery. The vines grow in the shadow of Te Mata Peak, where the Peabody family crafts award-winning wines that reflect the distinctiveness of New Zealand’s terroir.

Exploring New Zealand Golf Courses

Over the next three days, the group moved to Queenstown, where golfers enjoyed rounds at Millbrook Resort and Jack’s Point. As one of the best golf vacations for couples, this experience offered a blend of stunning scenery and challenging play. Sitting in the Wakatipu basin, surrounded by a picturesque mountain landscape, Millbrook Resort offered guests two 18-hole courses with a variety of natural hazards—including tussocks, streams, schist stone, trees and buildings, plus five different tee positions—to challenge all levels of golfers. And then there is Jack’s Point, a spectacular 18-hole, par 72 championship course with even more views—this time it’s the shores of Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables Mountain Range.

A View From Above

A real off the course highlight was a private helicopter tour for members and their guests to see the dramatic peaks, waterfalls, and glaciers of the Milford Sound and Lake Lochnagar, the self-proclaimed “Eighth Wonder of the World.” These luxury experiences provided a breathtaking perspective of New Zealand’s natural wonders.

For the grand finale, the trip finished at the Kauri Cliffs course, set on 6,000 acres of working sheep and cattle farmland with more views of the Pacific. This last leg of the trip also gave members and their guests the opportunity to get out onto the water that they’ve been seeing from a distance for days with a fun catamaran experience.

Perfectly executed, seamlessly planned

From the travel arrangements to the New Zealand golf courses to the extra experiences, one member shared that “the trip was well thought out, perfectly executed—even when things like flight delays happened—and enjoyable throughout. The trip was exceptional. We had high expectations for it and they were met and surpassed.”

In summary? “Inspirato knows how to put together a great trip,” packed with luxury experiences that redefine the meaning of a premium golf vacation.
