Sprawling Outdoor Haven in the Blue Ridge Mountains

Nestled in the heart of southern Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, Meadows of Dan is best known as the home of Primland Resort—a haven for outdoor recreation no matter the season. Visitors flock to the area to experience its scenic beauty while on horseback, recreation terrain vehicle (RTV), bicycle, or foot. The resort itself encompasses 12,000 acres, giving guests plenty of room to immerse themselves in secluded wilderness. Many excursions center around views of the Dan River Gorge. There’s plenty to do in the surrounding area as well: A section of the historic Old Appalachian Trail winds through dense forest close to the resort, and the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway attracts scores of motorists as one of the country’s most scenic drives.

May through August is the rainiest time of year, but the region receives a fair amount of precipitation year-round.
